A Home Care Package (HCP) is funding provided by the Government that is given to elderly individuals that help them remain at home for as long as possible. Home Care Packages (such as My Aged Care) offer a higher level of support if you have more complex needs.
There are four levels of Home Care Packages each with a different level of funding, from Level 1, is the lowest amount that an individual can receive which is currently around $8,750 per year, Level 2 which is around $15,500. Level 3 is approximately $34,000 and Level 4, which is the highest level of care and funding, is approximately $51,500 per year. *These figures are rounded.

Home Care Package funds aren’t paid to you directly. Instead, you must choose an approved Home Care Package Provider to administer the funds on your behalf and support you with your care management. Carers & Companions can assist you with this and continue to provide Care Services

This step-by-step guide has been put together to guide you through the application process to obtain a home care package through the My Aged Care Government program.
Step 2
Get in contact with My Aged Care. By contacting My Aged Care on 1800 200 422, you can request for a Home Care Package. During the contact, they will assess that you meet all the government required for aged care funding.
Step 3
An ACAT Assessor will assess your needs. An ACAT assessor will come and visit you at your home and will discuss with you your personal circumstances to assess and conclude what level of support you may need.
Step 4
Receive your assessment results. When your assessment has been completed, you will soon receive a letter advising you whether you have been approved to receive a Home Care Package and then you will be placed in a priority queue and will be contact with a suitable package becomes available for you (this is based off how long you have been waiting for care in addition to your personal needs and circumstances)
Step 5
Accept your package and commence care services. You will receive a letter from My Aged Care confirming everything and the letter will contain a unique referral code. Once you receive this code, you may get in contact with Carers & Companions (1300 290 225) and we can assist you to kick start your Home Care Package.
